 Chinmaya
Naada Bindu
Chinmaya Naada Bindu is the proposed Residential School of Indian Music and Dance of the Chinmaya Mission. This school, based in the beautiful and serene setting of Chinmaya Vibhooti, Kolwan, will be fully dedicated to Indian classical music and dance. Highly qualified faculty will be appointed on full-time/ part-time basis. Eminent performing artists will be called from time-to-time to share their knowledge with the students of music.

We plan to
complete Phase I by 2010 and Phase II by
2012.
Major
activities taken up by Naada Bindu:
Residential
degree and certificate courses: The
core activity of Chinmaya Naada Bindu,
this course will have resident scholars
undertaking basic and advance training
under different faculties like vocal
music (Hindustani and Carnatic styles),
instrumental music (string/wind/
percussion) and different classical
dance forms. Vocal and instrumental
music will be taken up in Phase I of the
project and Classical Dance forms will
be added in Phase II
Capsule courses: Several capsule
courses have been envisaged. These
include week long courses on marathi
abhangs, kabir dohas, thumris, tillanas,
pallavis etc.
Workshops: Chinmaya
Swaranjali has been conducting workshops
on several topics like ‘Music/dance appreciation’,
'Devotional music/dance forms’,etc. To add to this we have planned
workshops on topics like ‘creativity’,
‘voice culture’,‘music/dance therapy’ etc.
Conferences: We plan to
conduct yearly music conferences at Chinmaya
Naada Bindu presided over by prominent
artistes and attended by the learned
and the learning. The topics will be
different and interesting like ‘Taal’, ‘Raag’,
‘Fusion’, ‘Indian Classical Music/Dance- the
path ahead’ among several others.
Yearly Festivals: The state-of-the-art auditorium and the beautiful
setting of Chinmaya Vibhooti will serve
as the venue for our yearly music/dance
festivals. Day-long concerts by veterans,
professionals and upcoming artists will
serve as a learning platform as well as
an exposure for young musicians/dancers.
Chilla Facility: Chilla rooms are
basement rooms meant for rigorous
practice. These will be provided with
bathroom facilities. Committed musicians/dancers may book Chilla
facility for a period of 1 week to a
maximum of 40 days during which, they
will remain inside the room
and,, their activities monitored.
