“Aao Saare, Gaayein Sa Re”
31st October to 2nd November 2008,Chinmaya Vibhooti, Kolwan
30 first-timers, most of them non-conversant
with music, attended the music camp,
“Aao Saare, Gaayein Sa Re…”
at Chinmaya Vibhooti, Kolwan,
from 31st October to 2nd November 2008.
Smt. Varsha Nene, a reputed music teacher
from Pune, and the music guide at
the camp, assisted by Smt. Pramodini Rao
(Director, Chinmaya Naada Bindu),
showed her eager students a kaleidoscope
of classical music, making them experience the bright
colours of khayal, cheez and tarana, besides
giving them the taste of thumri, tappa, bhajans, etc.
in the light-classical category.
The campers actually wrote down, sang and memorized
some songs taught to them.
Br. Shailesh Chaitanya, Resident Acharya, Pune,
conducted 2 sessions on “Mantra Magic”,
wherein he highlighted the importance
of chanting the name of the Lord.
Many times we have more faith on
our own name, than in the name of the Lord,
he said. Imagine, when our name can get so many
things done for us, what to say of the Lord’s name,
he asked. This is a sure-shot method to calm the restless mind.
On popular demand, Smt. Varsha Nene and
Smt. Pramodini Rao sang bhajans for the campers
for an hour on one of the evenings.
Organised by Chinmaya Naada Bindu,
“Aao Saare, Gaayein Sa Re…” was originally meant
for students of music, but with response
from unexpected quarters, the planning, syllabus and
mode of teaching turned around,
making it interesting and lively for new entrants to
the field of serious music!
The age of the campers varied between 10 years and 75 years.
Obviously, the talented 10-year old Sadjyot,
was the hero of the camp, rendering quite a few songs
in front of the wonderstruck audience!
With this experience, Chinmaya Naada Bindu is geared
up to take any further challenges,
small or big!
Unexpected help came from Shri H K Hinduja,
Trustee of CCMT and Shri S Subba Rao of Mumbai.
Chinmaya Naada Bindu thanks them for their support.
